Former UP minister alleges rigging in UP civic poll
Lucknow, Nov 2 (UNI) Former Uttar Pradesh minister and Congress leader Ashok Yadav today alleged large scale bungling had occurred in the ongoing state civic poll.
Mr Yadav also produced copies of ballot papers, which according to him were looted and thrown away in Ferozabad district.
Talking to newsmen here, he said the poll for the post of chairman of Shikohabad nagar palika held on October 31 was marred by gross irregularity committed by the official machinery on behest of the Samajwadi Party leadership.
The complaints from all candidates had already been forwarded to UP Governor T V Rajeswar and State Election Commissioner Aparmita Prasad Singh.
''If such things happen in the urban bodies election, the impartiality and rowdism can be imagined during the 2007 UP assembly poll,'' he said.
Mr Yadav appealed other political parties as well to ensure how the next assembly poll in the state could be held in a fair and free manner.
