Doordarshan Journalist bags national award

Hyderabad, Nov 2 (UNI) Emani Krishna Rao, Special Correspondent of Doordarshan, Hyderabad today bagged the Best Documentary Award in Doordarshan National Awards, 2006.

The award winning entry making of Naval Officer under Youth Category encourages youth to explore opportunities in Indian Navy.

Shot in various establishments, the 52 minutes documentary was telecast on December four, 2005 on Navy Day from Doordarshan News and Doordarshan Sapthagiri Channels, Doordarshan Kendra Director-news R V V Krishna Rao said in a release here.

This is the third award in two years for Mr Rao, who won the 2006 World Bank-Commonwealth Broadcasting Association award for best documentary 'From Fallows to Food Baskets on Food Security' and 2005 Doordarshan national award for best News Feature 'Operation Rainbow' on tsunami relief efforts by Indian Navy in Sri Lanka.

The award presentation would be held in Jalandhar on November 18.
