Dengue claims 152 lives, 9161 people infected
New Delhi, Nov 2 (UNI) Dengue has claimed 152 lives and about 9161 people have been infected with the mosquito borne disease so far in the country.
In Delhi, NCR and neighbouring states 2775 cases of dengue have been reported with 55 deaths. Of these, 1718 cases have been reported from Delhi alone while 1057 cases were from outside Delhi.
These include 327 cases from Haryana, 570 cases from Uttar Pradesh, 22 cases from Rajasthan and 138 from others.
Apart from Delhi, the maximum number of dengue cases have been reported from Rajasthan (1224) followed by Kerala (849), West Bengal (820), Punjab (809), Uttar Pradesh (604), Maharashtra (582), Gujarat (475), Haryana (395), Tamil Nadu (324) Andhra Pradesh (97) and Karnataka (92).
Meanwhile, 1689 confirmed cases of chikungunia have been reported in the country of which 34 are from Delhi and NCR.
The maximum number of confirmed Chikungunia cases have been reported from Maharashtra (684), followed by Karnataka (294), Andhra Pradesh (248), Gujarat (170), Tamil Nadu (116), Madhya Pradesh (70) Kerala (38) and Puducherry (9).
