Defence deals to be made more transparent: Antony

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 2 (UNI) Defence Minister A K Antony today said transparency will be ensured in all defence deals by taking into consideration the security and national interest.

In an informal chat with reporters at ''Indira Bhavan'', the headquarters of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee(KPCC) here, he said he was studying all the issues related to his Ministry and would take adequate steps to resolve all the issues.

Asked if the Government would bring in more transparency in defence deals, he said the government already had a policy in this matter.

Mr Antony said the Centre was committed to ensure that there was no lapse in national security. A constant vigil would be kept on issues relating to the national security, he added.

Mr Antony, who is visiting his home state for the first time after assuming office, said he would pay attention to the development of Kerala.
