Court sentences complainant to 15 days imprisonment
Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Nov 2 (UNI) A complainant in a corruption case has been sentenced to 15 days imprisonment by the special court at Osmanabad for turning hostile recently.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Osmanabad had arrested Sajja Devkurli talathi, Shivaji Babu Aute, while accepting at bribe of Rs 350 from Kumar Dattu Mote, a resident of Gondhalwadi in Tuljapur taluka of Osmanabad district, on May 28, 2004.
The ACB had registered an offence against Aute with the Tuljapur police and a chargesheet was filed. While deposing, the main complainant Kumar Mete, turned hostile, said Deputy Superintendent of Police (ACB) Pravin Kulkarni.
However, the government pleader Mukundrao Kadam brought to the notice of the judge that the complainant had turned hostile, resulting into the acquittal of Aute. Following this, the special court Judge M V Kulkarni sentenced Mete to 15 days imprisonment and also slapped a fine of Rs 200, he said.
