Code violation reported aganist Mizoram chief minister and home mini
Aizawl, Nov 02 (UNI) Election Comminission of India (ECI) has accused Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga and home minister Tawnluia of violating election code of conduct on October 31 by-elections to Tlungvel and Chawngte assembly constituencies in south Mizoram.
State Chief Electoral Officer Lalmalsama said he had recieved a copy of the report of central election observer aganist the chief minister and home minister regarding the violation of model election code of conducts.
Quoting the report, he alleged as saying both the ministers went inside a number of booths in Tlungvel constitutency during polling without prior premission though except election agents no political personalities were allowed to go inside.
Mr Lalmalsama said ''The observer noticed the home minister had gone in Khawruhlian area, northeastern part of the state, while the chief minister was spotted in Tlungvel village by the same observer''.
Mr Zoramthanga had been charged with violation of the code last year during by-election to Kawrthah assembly seat and EC is contemplating on a punishment.
Apart form this, Congress party has lodged a complain against a primary school teacher, who was charged with canvassing for ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) candidate in Tlungvel constituency.
Tlungvel seat was left vacant following the death of sitting Congress MLA Sainghaka in July last while Chawngte's by-poll was necessiated by the resignation of sitting MLA R.M.Chakma of the MNF early this year on grounds of holding an office of profit.
