CA's ex-CEO sentenced to 12 years in prison
NEW YORK, Nov 2 (Reuters) The former chief executive of CA Inc. was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison today for his role in a 2.2 billion dollars accounting fraud at the computer software company.
US Judge Leo Glasser also fined the former executive 8 million dollars. Kumar's surrender date was set for February 27.
He was also given three years of supervised release for each of eight counts count to which he pleaded guilty.
Kumar pleaded guilty to charges including conspiracy, securities fraud and obstruction of justice in federal court in Brooklyn in April.
As part of the accounting scheme, Kumar improperly booked software license revenue from 1999 to 2000 in order to meet Wall Street analysts' quarterly earnings expectations and then lied to investigators about it, the government said.
