BSF jawan among 3 killed by militants, one arrested in J and K
Srinagar, Nov 2 (UNI) Militants struck yet again killing three persons, including a Border Security Force (BSF) head constable and injured two others while an over ground worker was arrested in the Jammu and Kashmir overnight.
Official sources said militants shot at and critically wounded three BSF personnel from a very close range at crowded Regal Chowk near here today.
The injured jawans were rushed to hospital where Mohammad Ashraf Khan died. The condition of two other constables is stated to be critical.
Security forces immediately cordoned off the entire area and launched a search operation to nab the militants responsible for the attack.
The Pakistan based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has claimed responsibility for the attack.
On October 15, militants shot dead two Jammu and Kashmir police personnel at Lal Chowk near here.
About a dozen police, CRPF and BSF personnel were killed by the militants in the city during the past six months.
A former Special Police Officer (SPO) was killed by militants in north Kashmir this afternoon, official sources said.
They said militants shot at and critically wounded P P Singh, a former SPO, near the gate of district hospital this afternoon.
However, he died before he could be shifted to hospital.
A group of four militants entered the house of one Choudhary Moahmamd Sheikh at Drug Teng, Kangan, about 40 km from here and kidnapped him. Militants later hanged him to death in the nearby area, sources said.
Security forces arrested an over ground worker of a militant outfit at Khuri Mawar in the frontier district of Kupwara.
