BJP-BSP-Congress combine is a frustrated lot in UP: SP

Lucknow, Nov 2 (UNI) Brushing aside the opposition allegations of large scale rigging by the ruling party in the ongoing urban local bodies polls, the Samajwadi Party today charged the opposition of training guns on the government through Governor and State Election Commission (SEC) after people have rejected them in the elections.

''The demand of President's rule by BJP and Congress is manifestation of opposition's frustration fully knowing they were sure to lose in the urban local bodies poll'',SP general secretary and state PWD Minister Shivpal Singh Yadav told reporters here.

Claiming that the elections had been fair and by and large peaceful, he said it was first time that the polling was held in an impartial manner. '' The BJP-Congress-BSP combine is only taking the help of the governor and SEC to save its face on their debacle in the polls'', he stressed.

''People have voted for the SP on the issue of development, and minor violence was reported in such a big election'', he further claimed.

'' we are not afraid of the demand of President's rule but how can a democratically elected government be sacked'', he questioned.

When asked if similar type of elections would be held in next year's assembly poll, the Minister said ' we will certainly try to go for such impartial elections'.

To a query whether there is some dispute between the SP and its ally Rashtriya Lok Dal(RLD) in Muzaffarnagar, he said such dispute arises but it will be solved accordingly. He also denied that some MPs and MLAs of the SP in Muzaffarnagar had resigned following non action against the RLD leader.

State Transport Minister Naresh Agarwal, who was also present in the press meet, said the demand of President's rule by the opposition was only due to their fear of being wiped out in the next assembly polls.
