AMU, PU in final of North Zone Inter-Varsity cricket

Aligarh, Nov 2 (UNI) Host Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) edged out Kashmir University by six wickets, while Punjab University beat their rivals from Kurukshetra in the semifinals to set up a summit clash in the North Zone Inter-Varsity Cricket Tournament here today.

In the first semifinal, medium pacer Asif Intizar's six-wicket haul wrecked KAshmir University which was bowled out for 198.

In reply, AMU put up a solid batting display and half cenruries by opener Mohd FAzil and Shubham Binda helped them reach the victory target for the loss of four wickets.

In the other semifinal, tailender Bharat Sharma's half century propelled Punjab University to 274. In reply, Kurukshetra University reached 243 before losing all their wickets and PU sailed into the final with the 31-run win.
