Agitating farmers, govt talk to resolve crisis
Sriganganagar, Nov 2: Talks between state government officials and farmers agitating for their share of irrigation water from Indira Gandhi Canal Project will commence today.
According to sources, state government representatives and leaders of Kisan Mazdoor Vyapari Sangharsh Samiti will meet at the police rest house in Ashok Nagar in Jaipur this evening. Most leaders are expected to reach Jaipur today.
In view of normalcy returning, the district administration has eased the day curfew in Gharsana and Raola. Now these towns will be under curfew from 10 pm in the night to 6 am in the morning.
The CPM, CPI and many other organisations organised a protest at the Collectorate here today.
Meanwhile, prohibitory orders have been imposed in Rawatsar in Hanumangarh district from yesterday in view of the farmers agitation threat against the police lathicharge. The assembled farmers at the Sub-Divisional Magistrate office in Bhadra were removed after Section 144 was imposed in the area. At least 21 farmers were also arrested.
The farmers in Nohar and Sangria are also preparing to begin their agitation soon.
