5 lakh employees to go on strike in MP

Gwalior, Nov 2 (UNI) As many as five lakh officers and other employees of the Madhya Pradesh government have threatened to proceed on an indefinite strike from November 8 in support of demands including merger of 50 per cent dearness allowance with basic pay.

''The one-and-a-half-dozen demands include relaxation of rules for appointment on compassionate grounds and providing the executive engineers' payscale to sub-engineers who have completed 24 years of service,'' Joint Action Committee General Secretary and Madhya Pradesh Diploma Engineers Association President Rajendra Singh Bhadoria said in a statement issued here.

He set a November 7 deadline for the government to take solid steps towards meeting the demands.
