3500 Sikh pilgrims leave for Pakistan for 'Gurupurab'
Amritsar, Nov 2 (UNI) Three trains of Sikh pilgrims today left the Attari border railway station for Nankana Sahib in Pakistan where the devotees would celebrate 'Gurupurab' -- Guru Nanak's birthday -- on November five.
The 'jatha' of the devotees, numbering over 3500, was led by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) member Mohinder Singh Romana in three trains, Samjhauta Express and two special trains.
The devotees flooded the Attari station as they left in trains with their visas for Lahore and Nankana Sahib, singing religious hymns and raising slogans of 'Bole So Nihal'.
The Sikh 'sangat' (community) would reach Nankana Sahib shrine tomorrow morning for the three-day scheduled prayers at the birth place of Guru Nanak.
