117.33 lakh metric tonnes paddy arrived in Punjab Mandis
Chandigarh, Nov 2 (UNI) Over 117.33 lakh metric tonnes of paddy had arrived in various mandis of Punjab, so far as against about 115.28 lakh metric tonnes during the corresponding period last year.
Food and Supplies Minister, S Lal Singh said that out of the total arrival, over 27,03,688 tonnes of paddy was procured by Pungrain, 20,81,995 tonnes by Markfed, 25,85,825 tonnes by Punsup, 11,30,308 tonnes by PSWC, 12,89,002 tonnes by PAIC, 2,25,261 tonnes by FCI and 17,17,714 tonnes by the Millers in the state till November 1, 2006.
He also said that paddy procured on November 1 by Pungrain was 43,328 tonnes, Markfed 21,529 tonnes, Punsup 27,443 tonnes, PSWC 13,599 tonnes, PAIC 20,223 tonnes, FCI 787 tonnes and by Millers 31,936 tonnes.
Giving details Mr Singh said that district Sangrur was leading in the state in paddy arrival with 20,25,837 tonnes followed by Ludhiana district with 14,97,159 tonnes.
He further said that Grade 'A' variety of Paddy arrived in various mandis of the state was 116.33 lakh metric tonnes, while common variety of paddy arrived in mandis was 1,00,687 tonnes.
