VP Singh wants sealing stopped, related Act included in Schedule IX
New Delhi, Nov 1 (UNI) Former Prime Minister V P Singh today demanded that the sealing exercise be stopped immediately and the Delhi Laws (Special Provisions) Act 2006 be included in the IXth Schedule of the Constitution. so that the entire matter comes out of the purview of the courts.
This was necessary as the livelihood of lakhs is being affected and people could go to any lengths to save it, he said addressing mediapersons here.
''Even the government is responsible for the mess as it gave the shops licence, gave them electricity and water connections and reaped Sales Tax. So how can it pull the plug all of a sudden.'' Taking care of the aspirations of the people was the responsibility of the government, he added.
Mr Singh also annoounced that he would lead a 'Jan Morcha' rally march tomorrow, from the historic Red Fort to Town Hall, to protest the government's sealing drive.
The rally, which will also feature Jan Morcha president Raj Babbar, Delhi Assembly Deputy Speaker Shoaib Iqbal and Nationalist Congress Party Delhi chief Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, would try to 'seal' the Town Hall as a mark of protest.
Mr Bidhuri said now was the time for the government to make good promise on the assurance of Union Urban Developemnt Minister Jaipal Reddy that if needed, the Constitition would be amended to meet the aspirations of the people of Delhi over the demolition and sealing issue.
''The government must immediately convene a special session of Parliament to get the necessary work done in this regard,'' said Shoaib Iqbal adding the Delhi Master Plan be made by MPs and MLAs from Delhi and not 'outsiders'.
