SEZ : Notice to GOI, Haryana govt
Chandigarh, Nov 1 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court today issued notices returnable by February 5, 2007, among others to the Union Cabinet Secretary and the Haryana government on a writ petition vide which the constitutional validity of the law passed by Parliament as also by the Haryana assembly for setting up of Special Economic Zones (SEZ) has been challenged.
The petition has been filed by Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) secretary-general and Rajya Sabha member Ajay Singh Chautala.
The petition filed against setting up of SEZ in Punjab filed among others by Punjab CPI leader and state Kisan Sabha general secretary Bhupinder Sambhar which has challenged the state government authority to hand over Panchayat lands for the purpose, was yesterday adjourned to December 18 by the same bench.
The policy on SEZ has also been challenged by the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) leaders in a separate writ petition.
