Rupee gains 15 paise, closes at Rs 44.87 per USD
Mumbai, Nov 1 (UNI) The rupee today gained 15 paise over the previous close to settle at Rs 44.87 per US Dollar, as strong FII inflows were noticed and few corporates sold dollar in the market, a money market trader said today.
Earlier, the domestic currency opened at Rs 44.90/92 per USD and in the afternoon traded at Rs 44.90.50/91.50 per USD.
The six-month forward premia was fixed flat at 2.10 per cent and the one-year premia was at 1.85 per cent.
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today fixed the reference rate at Rs 44.93 per USD as compared to the previous rate of Rs 45.02 per USD.
However, the performance of the rupee against other currencies was mixed. The domestic currency closed down against Euro at Rs 57.24 (57.13), against Pound Sterling rupee was down at Rs 85.63 (85.45) and against Yen it was down at Rs 38.37 (38.17).
