Prime accused of kit scam granted bail in an assault case

Kolkata, Nov 01 (UNI) The dud kit episode took a new twist today with prime accused Govind Sardar being granted bail by Calcutta High Court in an assault case.

The court, however, threw out his bail plea in the dud kit case in which he was arrested weeks ago.

Sardar wiil be in jail custody till further order.

The division bench of Justice D P Sengupta and Justice B Samaddar took up Sardar's petition pleading innocence.

Sardar said he did not assault a senior official of his company, Abhijit Sarkar.

Mr Sarkar, Zonal Manager of Sardar's company, had launched a complaint against the latter, saying he was forced to sign in a paper relating to dud kit case but he was assaulted when he refused to sign.

Meanwhile, father of an ailing child filed a PIL asking the government to register the names of those, who donated blood in blood bank during the past one year.

The petitioner also prayed that these donators' blood reports should be scanned and they should be barred from donating blood for the next one year.

Tapas Sengupta, a resident of Salt Lake and father of the child, said his son was tested HIV positive after being administered blood from a blood bank a few months back.
