Opposition-sponsored No Confidence motion defeated in Delhi Assy

New Delhi, Nov 1 (UNI) The BJP-sponsored no confidence Motion against the Sheila Dikshit-led Government in Delhi was today defeated in the State Legislative Assembly.

As soon as Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit rose to give her reply to the No Confidence motion, discussion on which has been going on for the last two days, the BJP members raised bedlam demanding to know from the Chief Minister whether sealing would begin from tomorrow or not.

Speaker Prem Singh's pleas to maintain order went in vain as the BJP members shouted slogans against the Chief Minister.

Raising slogans like 'Sheila Dikshit Istifa Do' (Sheila Dikshit should resign) and 'Sealing Ko Band Karo' (stop sealing in Delhi), the BJP members entered the well of the House.

Amid the opposition furore, the CM put the No confidence motion to voice vote whereafter it was declared defeated by the Speaker.

However, the BJP members continued with their noisy protests which led the Speaker to suspend all BJP members, except Harsharan Singh Balli, Subhash Sachdeva, Jai Bhagwan, Dharamdev Solanki, Dayanand Chandela and Sushil Chaudhry, from the House for three days.

Later, the Chief Minister moved a resolution urging the Supreme Court to suspend the sealing drive till the finalisation of the Master Plan 2021.

The resolution also requested the Union Urban Development Ministry to finalise the Master Plan 2021 at the earliest and to move the Supreme Court to suspend operation of its orders till the notification of the Master Plan.

Dismissing BJP's claim of supporting the interest of traders, the Chief Minister said that apart from trying to assail the Government on the sealing issue, the BJP had not said anything concrete to help the resolution of the issue or provide relief to traders.
