ONGC enters final of Fed Cup

Jamshedpur, Nov 1 (UNI) ONGC (Uttaranchal) stormed into the Men's final defeating Punjab (Baba Ludhia Basketball Academy) in a close match in the first semifinal of the 22nd Federation Cup Basketball Championship at JRD Tata Sports Complex here this evening.

ONGC with six international cagers in their side, had to toil hard to beat Punjab in a match which witnessed many ups and downs.

The score was tied 40-40 during the half-time.But the ONGC cagers came good in the second sessison with some intelligent passing and fast move.The experienced cagers of ONGC finally clinched the match 79-61.

For ONGC Murali and Deshpandy scored 19 and 17 points respecively while Jagdip and Mandip Singh for Punjab scored identical points.

ONGC will meet the winner of the second semifinal match being played between Inidan Overseas Bank and Kerala Electriciy Board in the finals tomorrow.
