New petrochemical policy under review: Paswan
Jaipur, Nov 1 (UNI) The new petrochemical policy is currently being debated at the Committee of Secretaries level and is expected to be sent to the Cabinet within next three months.
Stating this here today, Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilisers and Steel, Ram Vilas Paswan said there are plans to open petrochemical and Petro Industrial Regions (PCPIR) in at least six places across the country covering an area of 200-250 sq km each, which will house both domestic and foreign companies.
He also demanded the creation of Consumer Forums in the plastic industry, which will increase the interaction between consumers and the producers.
Mr Paswan here today laid the foundation stone of the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) centre.
Regarding the rebate in excise duty on industrial equipment, Mr Paswan said the rebate has been increased from one crore to five crore rupees, helping the import of more advanced machinery for the industry.
On the reduced prices of 886 medicines, Mr Paswan said 74 categories of medicine are such whose prices are under the control of the government.
He said the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) is planning to monitor the pricing of the rest of the drug categories.
