MP govt admits prof's killers linked to ABVP
Bhopal, Nov 1 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government today admitted in the state Assembly that all six persons, accused of slaying Ujjain's Madhav College Prof Harbhajan Singh Sabharwal, were associated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
In a written reply to Mr Ramnivas Rawat (Congress), Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, ''a case under sections 302 and 147 of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the ABVP's former state President Shahshiranjan Akela, Vimal Tomar, Vishal Rajauria, Hemant Dubey, Sudheer Yadav and Pankaj Mishra all of them have been arrested.'' The Chief Minister felt that the murder, committed over postponement of a students' union poll in the last week of August, did not merit a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry as the state government conducted an impartial probe and submitted a charge sheet in the court on October 13.
In reply to a question by Mr Sajjan Singh Verma (Cong), Mr Chouhan said that a ban on government servants' participation in Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh programmes was lifted under Rule 5 of the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services Conduct Rules, 1965.
