Minister vows revival of Handball Academy at Bhillai
Lucknow, Nov 1 (UNI) Union State Minister for Steel Akhilesh Das here today promised that the only National Handball Academy of India at Bhillai would be revived soon.
Mr Das- who was here to inaugurate the 21st Federation Cup Handball championship for men and women at the local K D Singh Babu stadium, said it was an honour for the local players to witness such a great show.
Besides, he asked the U P Handball Association, a the organisers of the event, to plan an international event here for which he would extend his full support.
Six women's team, including the holders 'Railway', Maharashtra and Karnataka in Pool 'A' and for pool 'B' runners up Chhatisgarh, Delhi and host Uttar Pradesh would show their talent in the five-day event.
In men's category, Chhatisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and CISF in pool 'A', while Gujrat, Jharkhand, CRPF and Uttar Pradesh in pool 'B' would fight for the titles.
However, the holders in the men's category-- Services Sports Control Board did not turned up for the championship.
The tournament would be played on league-cum-knockout basis.
