Medical admission scam to be probed: C M

Bhopal, Nov 1 (UNI) Speaker Ishwardas Rohani today pulled up the BJP government in the Assembly for evading to take responsibility for the irregularities in admission to private medical and dental colleges in Madhya Pradesh this year and directed the government to inquire into the scam.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who intervened, reaffirmed the government's responsibility on all aspects and said action would be taken against those found guilty in the inquiry.

The Speaker's directive came in response to Health Minister Ajay Vishnoi's claim that the government was not responsible in the admissions as the private medical and dental colleges conducted the entrance tests on the Supreme Court directive as the state was yet to frame a policy in this regard.

The government was considering to introduce a bill on the admission procedure and fixation of fees in private educational institutions in the state, Mr Vishnoi said.

The Speaker put his own party government in the dock claiming he had proof of underhand dealing in admission to medical colleges and said it was reported that Rs 10 lakh was paid by each dental student.

The issue was raised during question hour by Mr Satyadeo Katare(Congress), who suspected a scandal and sought high-level inquiry saying the government role was doubtful.

Mr Vishnoi said the admission issue was pending before the Supreme Court after the judges committee had cancelled the admission test held by the Private Medical and Dental Colleges Association.
