Malyalam FM station launched in Bahrain

Dubai, Nov 1 (UNI) Bahrain's first Malayalam FM radio station was launched today.

The radio channel, Voice FM 104.2 will be operated by Strategic Publicity and Advertising Company (SPAC) that would air 30 per cent of its programmes in Hindi and 10 per cent in Tamil.

SPAC chairman P Unnikrishnan said Asianet's Bcast Media will produce five hours of programmes from Kerala for the Bahrain channel.

It will include an interactive show by popular radio star Sreekandan Nair, who will be in Bahrain for a live broadcast on Saturday, Gulf Daily News reported.

''Some of the experienced radio stars from Kerala will join our team, which will also include a few Bahrain-based artistes,'' the chairman said.

Eighty per cent of the programmes would be telecast live and it would become a 24 hour channel before November 15.

The launch of the channel coincides with the golden jubilee of the formation of the Kerala state.
