Large-scale Recovery of Arms

New Delhi, Nov 1 (UNI) In a series of successful operations conducted last night, security forces busted a number of militant hideouts and recovered caches of arms and ammunition.

According to an official spokesperson here, personnel of the Rashtriya Rifles and Assam Rifles -- in Jammu&Kashmir and the North-East, respectively -- acted on prior information to achieve these successes.

In Jammu&Kashmir, an RR battalion located a cache of arms and ammunitions at Arangi (Thana Mandi) -- in a joint operation conducted along with the Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police and the Special Task Force. The busted hideout led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, four pistols, a revolver, three radio sets and ten Kg of explosives.

Yet another RR battalion recovered a cache of arms and ammunitions at Handwagan (Southwest of Banihal) which included a Universal Machine Gun, three Under-Barrel Grenade Launchers and a large quantity of ammunition and explosives, the spokesperson said.

In the North East also, security operations proved successful when an Assam Rifles battalion at Tangpichang, in Churachandpur District of Manipur, recovered a UMG, a pistol and 10 Kg of explosives.
