Kizhoor Museum to be renovated: Pondy CM
Puducherry, Nov 1 (UNI) The Puducherry administration would renovate the Kizhoor Memorial Museum and pillar at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore, Chief Minister N Rangasamy said here today.
Speaking at the museum's annual day function at Kizhoor near here, the Chief Minister said Puducherry stood first among the small states and the local body elections were held after a gap of 38 years to disseminate power to the grassroot level.
A function at Kizhoor is being organised every year only after the Congress government assumed office.It may be noted that the de-facto merger took place after the referendum at Kizhoor on November one,1954.
The annual per-capita income in the union territory stood at Rs 62,000 and would touch Rs one lakh shortly. The administration was taking steps to make Puducherry a hut-free territory.
As many as 22,000 persons had constructed houses under the Kamarajar Housing Scheme. The administration was providing financial assistance to documentary films on freedom fighters and other historic personalities.
A documentary on Kizhoor event would come out soon and the government would provide financial assistance for the same.
In his address, Education Minister M O H F Shajahan said the administration would soon provide free umbrellas to students in the other regions also soon.
Unlike other states, the Puducherry administration was spending Rs1,500 on a student each month, he claimed.
