Kerala Centre in NY to award six Malayalees, one American

New York, Nov 7 (UNI) The Indian American Kerala Cultural and Civic Center will honour six Indian American Malayalees and an American for their outstanding achievements in their field of specialisation or for their service to society.

Among the award winners are Mr George Abraham, an official with the Non-Resident Keralites Affairs Department of Kerala government, for community service, Dr K P Ananthpadmanabhan, a scientist at Unilever Research and Development in Trumbull, under the applied sciences category and Dr T S Dharmarajan, Chairman, Department of Medicine, at Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center here, for Medicine.

The other eminent personalities to be honoured by the Center are Mr Samual Easo, who was instrumental in launching Asianet TV in the US, for Mass Media, Prof Ajay Menon, Dean of the College of Business at Colorado State University, for Education, Honorable John B Pessala for Public Service and Dr Prathibha Varkey, MD, under the Special Recognition category.

The awards would be given away at Kerala Center's annual banquet on November 11 at the Kerala Center here.

Mr Vijay Nambiar, Special Advisor to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and former Permanent Representative of India to the UN, will be the chief guest. The keynote address will be delivered by Dr Ajay Menon.
