Industries to be set up on barren lands: Budhadeb Bhattacharjee
Purulia, Nov 1 (UNI) Addressing a rally on the occasion of 'Banga Bhukti' golden jublee celebrations at Puncha, 50 kms from here, West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee agreed to set up industries on the barren lands of Purulia and Bankura districts.
Mr Bhattacharjee narrated the sorrow state of the people here before 1956 and the Banga Bhukti as Purulia was within Bihar.
He also reiterated to build the industries even in the cultivable lands here.
'' We need only 150 lakh metric tonnes of paddy annually for the state and industries will be set up at other lands, ''he categorically said.
He assured to build the steel plant here and had already discussed the project with a few industrialists.
The Chief Minister also informed the Purulia Pump Storage's, a power project with Japaneese collaboration, first unit would commision in March 2007 thereby benefitting thousands of villagers here.
