Four sentenced life imprisonment in Nayapatti murder case

Barrackpore, Oct 30 (UNI) Dilip Banerjee, Raju Biswas, Saheb Mandal and Anup Bera were sentenced to life imprisonment here today for their involvement in Salt lake Nayapattti murder case of 2004.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Dibyojoti Dey announced the judgement here today and have fined Rs 5000 to each of the accused by default of which they would be sentenced to more one year of imprisionment.

The court had held Dilip Banerjee alias Hatkata Dilip and his associates, Raju Biswas, Saheb Mandal and Anup Bera, guilty under sections 302 and 34 of the IPC and were acquitted on October 30.

All the 23 accused of the murder case were held guilty while 19 others, including soccer players Sashti Duley, Dipankar Ray and pop singer Layla Alias Suparna Adhikary, were acquitted for the murder of two people during a function at Nayapatti under Salt Lake police station area on June 27, 2004 followed by a clash between two rival groups.
