EOW probing bogus supply of medicines

Bhopal, Nov 1 (UNI) The government today informed the Madhya Pradesh Assembly that the Economic Offences Wing was investigating into the ''bogus supply'' of medicines manufactured by Central government undertakings to government hospitals during 2002-03.

Replying to Mr Rasal Singh (BJP) during question hour, Minister of State for Home Nagendra Singh said violation of purchase rules were detected in at least six districts. Involvement of the Chief Medical and Health Officers posted in these districts during 2002-03 was being probed, he said, adding prima facie inquiry revealed irregularities.

Certain unauthorised firms were found to have supplied medicines and other goods manufactured by the undertakings, the Minister said.
