Deepanwita, Archana bow out of ITF Women's circuit

Ahmedabad, Nov 1 (UNI) Fourth seeded Parul Goswami today stumped Deepanwita Chakrabarty 6-0, 3-6, 6-2, forcing her to bow out of the ACTF-Gujarat NRE Coke ITF Women's Circuit 2006.

In the first set, Parul took just 20 minutes to blank Deepanwita out 6-0.

Deepanwita served two double faults in the set. The second set seemed to be heading the same way with Parul leading 3-0 when Deepanwita did an about turn and started hitting and serving with great flourish. She took the next six games on a trot to take the second set 6-3 in 26 minutes. Parul served an ace and a double fault while Deepanwita served two double faults.

In the decider, Deepanwita started strongly keeping her serve in the first game and breaking Parul in the second. Down 0-2, Parul pulled herself up and took the next six games to end Deepanwita's dream run.

Poojashree Venkatesh ousted seventh seed Archana Venkatraman 2-6, 6-1, 6-0 in another match that lasted 97 minutes. In the first set, Pooja was broken in the second, fourth and eighth games while breaking Archana in the fifth. In the second set, Archana was broken in the first, fifth and seventh games. The third set went Pooja's way at 6-0.
