Day 3, Delhi Bandh: protests, traffic chaos in East Delhi
New Delhi, Nov 1 (UNI) Traders in the capital continued their 72-hour strike on the third day today with shops in all major markets remaining shut even as the business community threatened to go on an indefinite strike if the sealing drive in the city resumed tomorrow.
The 'Trade Bandh' was by and large peaceful except sporadic incidents of stone pelting in some areas of East Delhi, including Seelampur, and blocking of traffic.
However, demonstrations were held in various parts to protest the court-ordered sealing drive against commercial establishments in residential areas.
The bandh had been by and large peaceful in last 48 hours except on the first day when thousands of BJP workers and traders picketed the state Assembly and about 1,500 agitators were rounded up and later released. Some protestors and policemen were also injured.
