AP Minister criticises TRS for boycotting AP formation day
Karimnagar, Andhra Pradesh, Nov 1 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Sports Minister M Satyanarayana Rao today criticised the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) for boycotting the Andhra Pradesh Formation Day and observing it as a Black Day.
Talking to newspersons here after participating in the State Formation Day here, the septuagenarian leader of Congress said he was not opposed to a party demanding either separate Telangana or Rayalaseema State. Boycotting the functions and observing the day as 'Telangana Betrayal Day' was, however, not proper, he alleged.
Mr Rao said the people of the State should not forget 'Mother-tongue Telugu' as they all speak the same language. It was wrong to make disrespectful comments on one another, he added.
The CPI(M) legislature party leader Nomula Narasimhaiah also said that it was wrong to boycott the celebrations. Mr Narasimhaiah, who opposed bifurcation of the State, alleged that the backwardness of Telangana region was the result of five decades of neglect by successive Governments and it could not be corrected by creating a separate Telangana State.
Samaikya Andhra Samiti(SAS), an organisation fighting against bifurcation of the State, burnt the effigy of TRS supremo and former Union Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao in Hyderabad, for trying to separate brothers for his personal and political benefit.
