51 people died in the absence of doctors

Bhopal, Nov 1 (UNI) A ruling BJP member today told the Madhya Pradesh Assembly that at least 51 people died due to lack of adequate treatment because of the absence of doctors for two and a half months at the primary health centre at Polaykala village in Shajapur district.

Replying to a question by Mr Giriraj Mandloi(BJP), Health Minister Ajay Vishnoi assured to probe whether the doctor remained absent unauthorisedly.

About 100 patients turned up at the OPD daily and 159 indoor patients were treated in 70 days from August this year, Mr Vishnoi said.

Mr Mandloi claimed a compounder was treating the patients and the regular doctor was on unauthorised leave while several hundred people in nearby villages were ill.
