12th National Sports Climbing Competition from Nov 5

New Delhi, Nov 1 (UNI) More than 150 participants from across the country will compete in the 12th National Sports Climbing Competition which kicks off at the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) campus here from November 5-7.

The 'Lead' and 'Speed' climbing competitions would be conducted as per the Union International Alpinists Association (UIAA) rules inthe men (16-40 years), women (16-40 years), junior boys (10-16 years) and junior girls (10-16b years) categories.

Sports climbing on an artificial wall being different from purists' rock climbing, it lays more stress on the gymnastic ability to do difficult moves on risk-free routes.

From a World Cup event, it is now poised to make its way to the Olympics as well, according to an IMF release here today.
