Uproar in Delhi Assembly over use of 'unparliamentary' language
New Delhi, Oct 31 (UNI) Noisy scenes were witnessed in the Delhi Legislative Assembly today on the second day of its ninth session when an NCP member resorted to 'unparliamentary' language during his exchanges with the opposition benches.
During a discussion on the no-confidence motion against the Sheila Dikshit government in the state assembly, BJP member Shab Singh Chauhan referred to Mr Ramvir Singh Bidhuri as a 'mouthpiece' of the Congress party. , a statement to which the NCP member took umbrage and retorted with the use of some 'unparliamentary' words.
This resulted in a huge uproar in the opposition benches with the BJP members, led by the Leader of the Opposition Jagdish Mukhi, on their feet indulging in slogan shouting.
The ensuing bedlam forced Speaker Prem Singh to adjourn the house for ten minutes.
After the House resumed, the Speaker asked Mr Bidhuri to apologise to the BJP member to which the NCP member said he would not do so but expressed willingness to apologise to the Speaker.
Regretting the use of 'unparliamentary' words in the house, the Speaker said the people of Delhi were watching the developments in the Delhi Assembly. As such, the use of such language was uncalled for.
Later BJP member S P Ratawal also regretted today's developments and said such incidents were a matter of shame for the members.
