'Tamilosai' to launch series on history of Tamil theatre

Chennai, Oct 31: BBC Tamil service 'Tamilosai' will launch a ten-part series exploring the history of Tamil theatre.

The series, to be launched on November five, would closely examine the evolution of Tamil theatre from the early days of street drama to the contemporary stage plays.

The programme would be broadcast on Sundays for ten weeks, a BBC release here said.

The series would profile the pioneers of Tamil theatre including Sankaradas Swamigal, T K S brothers and R S Manohar with contributions from legends such as Sivaji Ganesan and M R Radha.

It would also feature interviews with key drama personalities including Purisai Sambanda Thambiran, Cho Ramasamy and Manorama and contemporary artistes like Pralayan, Mu Ramasamy and Gnani, the release added.
