Sterlite Optical Q2 net at Rs 19.85 crore

Mumbai, Oct 31: Sterlite Optical Technologies Ltd has posted a net profit after tax of Rs 19.85 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2006 as compared to Rs 1.17 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2005.

Announcing the results, the company said its total income is Rs 380.13 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2006 as compared to Rs 124.43 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2005.

As approved by the Board of Directors at its meeting dated August 21, 2006 the company has purchased ''Power Transmission Business'' from Sterlite Industries India Ltd (SIIL) on a going concern basis for a net consideration of Rs 148.51 crore with effect from July 01, 2006.

As mentioned above, figures for the quarter ended September 30, 2006 also include figures in respect of Power Transmission Business.

Hence, figures for the current period are not comparable to figures for the previous period.
