Skill development programmes in 5 districts of K'taka
Bangalore, Oct 31 (UNI) The Karnataka Government will shortly begin skill development programmes in the districts of Shimoga, Belgaum, Dharwad, Mysore and Chamarajanagar in participation with the private sector, Major and Medium Industries Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu said today.
Talking to reporters here, he said the Government proposed to annually train at least 1,000 students from SSLC to graduation in various job skills. The training would range between three months and one year in IT, BT and other sectors. A stipend would be paid to the candidates, he added.
Mr Naidu said the Government planned to start the programme in five districts initially and then spread it to all the districts gradually.
As part of the Government effort to promote industry in other cities, he had visited Shimoga and had met investors ready to invest Rs 561 crore in the district in the next 18 months, he said, adding that he was visiting the other districts in the next few months to attract invesments to tier-II cities.
