Sensex crossing 13k a feel good factor for investors: Chidambaram
Ludhiana, Oct 31 (UNI) Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram today said that the SENSEX crossing the 13,000 mark was ''a feel good factor'' for the investors.
The Bombay Stock Exchange Sensitive Index (Sensex) had yesterday achieved the much awaited figure of 13k at around 1230 hrs, touching an all-time high of 13,031.39, as intense buying continued in the Banking and Health care sectors.
This showed the good trends in the market, the Union Finance Minister said while talking to reporters on the sidelines of the Punjab Agriculture University's annual convocation here.
Responding to the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) mid-term review report, Mr Chidambaram said he enorsed the RBI report.
In a bid to ensure stable interest rates, Reserve Bank had this morning released the mid-term review report, hiking the short-term repurchase rate (repo rate) by 0.25 per cent to keep inflation, now at 5.26 per cent, under check.
The Union Finance Minister said in response to a question that the disinvestment in the ''non-navratna'' public sector undertakings (PSUs) would continue, while the ''navratna'' PSUs would not be touched.
