SC app Monitoring Comm for postponment of sealing
New Delhi, Oct 31: The Supreme Court appointed Monitoring Committee on the issue of sealing today recommended to the apex court, postponement of the sealing drive in the capital till January 31, citing volatile law and order situation, sources said.
In a report submitted to the Supreme Court tonight, the Monitoring Committee said the law and order situation was not conducive to carrying out sealing as proposed from November 1.
Hence, it recommended that sealing operations in Delhi be suspended till January 31.
The report of the Committee comes following representations from several quarters including the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to defer the proposed sealing drive till the finalisation of the Master Plan 2021. In fact, the MCD had in a written comunication yesterday, favoured postponement of the sealing drive, citing volatile law and order situation in the capital.
The MCD said in the present situation when the traders had come out on the streets against sealing, going ahead with the drive could lead to law and order problems.
