Sandeep unlikely to make it to AsianGames: Gill
Jalandhar, Oct 31 (UNI) Penalty corner specialist Sandeep Singh, who was injured in an accidental firing recently, is unlikely to make it to the Indian hockey team for the Doha Asian Games to be held in December, according to Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) chief KPS Gill.
Talking to reporters here today, Mr Gill said Saneep was presently being treated at a hospital in Holland.
He said that he had spoken to Sandeep and his doctor over telephone last night and gathered the impression that the star defender might not be fit by that time.
''I have told Sandeep that he should not bother and should not try to rush back home for participating in Doha Games as we need him more for securing the future of the Indian Hockey,'' the IHF chief said.
Mr Gill, who was here to witness the last super league match between hosts Punjab and Indian Airlines this afternoon, had some unpleasant arguments with mediapersons on a couple of occasions during the press conference.
