Rupee weakens by four paise, closes at Rs 45.02 per USD
Mumbai, Oct 31: The rupee today weakened by four paise and closed at Rs 45.02 per US Dollar as compared to the previous close of Rs 44.97/98 per USD, as demand for dollar grew amongst the Indian companies, a money market trader said today.
Earlier, the domestic currency opened flat at Rs 44.97/98 per USD and in the afternoon traded at Rs 45.02 per USD.
The six-month forward premia was fixed at 2.10/15 per cent and the one-year premia was at 1.88/97 per cent.
Reserve Bank Of India (RBI) today fixed the reference rate at Rs 45.02 per USD as compared to the previous rate of Rs 45.09 per USD.
However, the performance of the rupee against other currencies improved comparatively. The domestic currency closed up against Euro at Rs 57.13 (57.24), against Pound Sterling rupee was up at Rs 85.45 (85.52) and against Yen it was up at Rs 38.17 (38.52).
