Railway revenue up 15.32 per cent in April-October

New Delhi, Oct 31 (UNI) The zooming revenues of the Railways remained firmly on the growth trajectory with the government's largest department notching an earning of Rs 32,536.90 crore during April-October this year as compared to Rs. 28213.64 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 15.32 per cent.

The goods earnings went up from Rs 18,837.72 crore during April 1-October 20 last year to Rs 21,874.79 crore during the coresponding period this fiscal, showing an increase of 16.12 per cent.

The total passenger revenue earnings during the period shot up to Rs 9,332.68 crore as compared to Rs 8,411.30 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 10.95 per cent.

The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs 890.22 crore compared to Rs 636.45 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 39.87 per cent.

The total number of passengers booked during the period OF April 1-October 20 this year were 3481.74 million compared to 3,239.19 million during the same period last year, marking an increase of 7.49 per cent.

In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during this period were 1,919.42 million and 1,562.32 million as compared to 1,812.78 million and 1426.41 million during the same period last year, registering an increase of 5.88 per cent and 9.53 per cent respectively.
