Price index for industrial workers increase by one point

Shimla, Oct 31 (UNI) All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) for the month of September this year has increased by one point and stood at 125.

During September 2006, the index recorded an increase of five points in Labac-Silchar centre. It increased by four point in Ranchi-Hatia, three points in seven centres (Silchar, Surat, Jalandhar, Monghyr-Jamalpur, Jharia, Salem and Giridih centres),two points in 12 centres and one point in 27 centres.

The index decreased by two points in Quilon centre, one point in five centres, Nasik, Raniganj, Sholapur, Bhaavnagar and Mundakayam and in the remaining 24 centre the index remained sationary.

The increase of five points in Labac-Silchar centre was contributed by the increase in the prices of Rice, Wheat Atta, Potato and other vegatable items. In Quilon centre the decrease of two point was due to the decrease in the prices of fresh fish.
