Paddy arrival crosses 30 lakh tonne in Haryana
Chandigarh, Oct 31 (UNI) The arrival of paddy in Haryana mandis has crossed 30 lakh tonnes during the current kharif season so far.
A total of 30.36 lakh tonnes have arrived in the state mandis as against 28.27 lakh tonnes during the corresponding period last year, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said.
Out of the total paddy arrival, 25.05 lakh tonnes was leviable and 5.09 lakh tonnes basmati and other superior quality.
Over 18.78 lakh tonnes of paddy had been procured by six Government agencies at the Minimum Support Price and the remaining 11.58 lakh tonnes had been purchased by the private millers and traders.
Mr Chander Mohan said that Hafed had procured 8.25 lakh tonnes of paddy, followed by Food and Supplies Department with 5.68 lakh tonnes, Haryana Agro-Industries Corporation 2.22 lakh metric tonnes, Confed with about 1.56 lakh tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporation with 94,937 tonnes and Food Corporation of India with 10,624 tonnes.
