No dearth of talent in Kashmir: Governor
Srinagar, Oct 31: Complimenting the youth of Jammu and Kashmir for taking keen interest in art and culture, state Governor Lt Gen (Retd) S K Sinha said there was no dearth of talent in the valley but it only needs to be identified.
Referred to a painting by a young artist that had impressed President A P J Abdul Kalam during his visit to the state, he said this is an acknowledgement of creativity of the people here.
Speaking at a function at Tagore Hall here this morning, the Governor expressed happiness that the youth were coming forward by participating in extra curricular activities including art, music and culture.
Art, Culture and Languages secretary Rafiq Masoodi outlined various activities undertaken by Cultural Academy in the state as well as in rural areas for promoting art and culture.
He said a troupe from the state recently performed in Turkmenistan during its Independence Day celebrations and mesmerized the audience.
Earlier, the Governor presented cash awards, citations and certificates to budding artists.
