Natwar may create problems for Congress: Joshi

Allahabad, Oct 31: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Murli Manohar Joshi said the Congress might face problems if former External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh, who had been very close to Nehru-Gandhi family, revealed its secrets to the public.

When asked whether there was possibility of split in the Congress on the issue of Mr Natwar Singh, Dr Joshi told mediapersons at his residence here that the division of the party was not new thing but a permanent feature.

Reacting on Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil's statement that it was difficult to check the infiltration of Bangladeshis into India, he said it proved the inefficiency and failure of the union government.

''It is the duty of the Union Government to check infiltration of foreign nationals into the country. It becomes the responsibility of respective state governments to identify such infiltrators and take action against them,'' he said.

''It is most unfortunate that some state governments for narrow vote politics were showing unwillingness to identify and take actions against the infiltrators,'' he rued, adding that it was proving fatal for the unity and integrity of the nation.

Criticising the Samajwadi Party and Congress for sacrificing the interest of the country by indulging in vote-bank politics, he said Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad opposed the hanging of Mohammad Afzal while UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav organised roza-iftar at har-ki-paudi and UP Congress chief Salman Khurshid described POTA a fascist law.

He said unity, integrity and security of the nation was supreme and not vote bank politics.

The BJP leader alleged that during the regime of the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh, there had been a manifold increase in terrorist activities in the state.

He further alleged that the Samajwadi Party was openly disobeying the model code of conduct in municipal election.

Dr Joshi claimed that the BJP was going to win more seats in this election in comparison to previous election.
