MP Govt's debt burden rises to Rs 41,896 cr

Bhopal, Oct 31 (UNI) The debt burden of the Madhya Pradesh Government rose to Rs 41,896 crore on March 31, 2006 from Rs 25,038 crore three years ago on March 31, 2003, the assembly was informed today.

In a written reply to Mr Rajvardhan Singh, Finance Minister Raghavji said the state government gave away an interest of Rs 3,684 crore in 2005-06.

In reply to a question by Mr Umashankar Gupta (BJP), he said 70 per cent dearness allowance was being provided to state government officials and pensioners. There was a difference of nine per cent between the dearness allowance provided by the Centre and the state government.
